A leading Private Equity backed international recruitment firm with a £65 million turnover is seeking an Accountant on a permanent basis. Reporting to the Senior Management Accountant for UK and APAC, this post has the responsibility of owning and managing the month end responsibilities for two entities within the group. It will be a hands-on role which requires attention to detail. With the ability work closely with the International Finance teams and other stakeholders to meet the month end deadlines.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Analyse overheads for month end review, ensuring the costs are split by team
  • Ensure that all contractor payrolls (Including the PAYE and IR35 payrolls) are posted / journaled
  • Carrying out bank reconciliations for GBP, EUR, CHF, SGD & USD bank accounts
  • Prepare the quarterly VAT returns
  • Calculating PAYE Settlement Agreement with the help of the Management Accountant
  • Taking ownership of the internal expense and credit card processes
  • Managing and updating cashflow, submitting daily variance reports
  • Post intercompany charge journals
  • Carry out the monthly accruals and prepayments
  • Calculate consultant commissions
  • Carrying out balance sheet reconciliations
  • Maintaining fixed asset register and depreciation charges
  • Supporting with the annual audit


  • Proven experience of at least 2-3 years in a similar capacity
  • Ideally experience in recruitment (but other, fast paced, timesheet based (T&M) company backgrounds considered
  • Part qualified ACCA or CIMA
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office. Proficient in Excel, notably VLOOKUP and Pivot tables
  • Experience with general ledger functions and clear understanding of accrual-based accounting
  • Ability to priorities and work independently to tight month end deadlines.
  • Some VAT knowledge
