A leading private equity backed international recruitment firm with a £65 million turnover is seeking a Management Accountant on a permanent basis.

This role has the full ownership of the end-to-end processes and reporting for the Group’s EU entities – it’s a hands-on role which requires attention to detail. With the ability work closely with the International Finance teams and other stakeholders to meet the month end deadlines.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Full ownership of calculating the temporary margins for Swiss and German entities
  • Full ownership of calculating German Temporary Payroll for and liaising with the outsourced payroll company.
  • Oversight of Swiss Temporary Payroll (making sure the payroll clerk is meeting Swiss payroll payments in line with local regulations)
  • Permanent/Temporary Revenue recognition for Germany and oversight of Swiss Perm and Temp invoicing.
  • Managing the EU Sales ledger and AP Ledger
  • Monthly forecasting of Gross Margin
  • Analyzing overheads for month end review, presenting trends
  • Carrying out the multicurrency bank reconciliations across all EU entities and bank revaluations
  • Working with local accountants compiling and submitting the VAT returns for Germany, Belgium and Switzerland
  • Ensuring that all statutory reporting and payments for the relevant EU entities are filed with the help of the local accountants
  • Taking ownership of the internal staff payroll and expense process for all EU entities, including the review of staff expenses that are received into the shared inbox
  • Managing and updating the EU cashflow
  • Adding new hires to EU Payroll
  • Carrying out the monthly accruals and prepayments for the EU entities
  • Calculating the monthly consultant commissions and country manger bonus in line with the agreements
  • Carrying out balance sheet reconciliations monthly ensuring clean balance sheets.
  • Full responsibility for maintaining the fixed asset register and depreciation charges for the EU entities
  • Managing the annual audits for all relevant entities
  • Checking the intercompany matrix and ensuring it is zeroed out at month end close
  • Carrying out any ad hoc tasks / Group internal report request
  • Monthly board pack presentation to board
  • Monthly trend reviews with FD, head of Finance and Senior Finance Managers
  • Ensuring Monthly management accounts for Europe are successfully completed


Essential skills, knowledge & qualifications:

  • Proven experience of at least 2-3 years in a similar capacity.
  • Qualified or part qualified ACCA or CIMA
  • Knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including GAAP
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office. Proficient in Excel, notably VLOOKUP and Pivot tables
  • Experience with general ledger functions and clear understanding of accrual-based accounting
  • Ability to priorities and work independently to tight month end deadlines
  • Experience dealing with foreign currency transactions and bank accounts
  • Exceptional integrity and excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills


  • Circa £40,000 per annum plus bonus and study support (or higher base no study)
  • Annual leave of 25 days per year Jan-Dec plus one day for each year of service, up to 6 additional days
