We have an amazing opportunity available for an experienced Financial Controller to join a small, dynamic, fun and fast-growing Creative Agency based in Shoreditch, London. This will be a wide-ranging and hands-on role, pivotal in helping the business grow by being a brilliant advisor and link between clients, suppliers and staff.
Newly created, this position is set to be recruited on a 6- or 9-month fixed term contract basis, but with a view to going permanent thereafter and prospect of progressing into a Finance Director post all being well.
To be considered you will need to have considerable experience in small to medium sized businesses, ideally media/consultancy firms, where turnover has been between 2 and 10 million. You’ll be comfortable with having a prominent and wide remit within a business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct line management of a Management Accountant and supervision/training of a student accounts administrator
- Oversee preparation of monthly management accounts & consolidation across the group
- Monthly variance reporting to budget & earlier years
- Manage year end process for annual financial statements
- Prepare cash flow forecast
- Assist with the annual budgeting process, track & refine
- Oversee all journals for management accounts
- Manage monthly payroll and pensions for London and Singapore offices
- Manage VAT/GST quarterly returns
- Communicate directly with external accountants & lawyers
- Oversee bank reconciliation, in multi-currency accounts
- Oversee credit card tracking & postings
- Oversee staff expenses, tracking & posting
- Oversee accounts receivable function
- Provide staff training
- Develop finance processes & reporting across the organisation
- Development & design of reporting board packs
- Weekly KPI reporting
- Control/oversight of the purchase ledger
- Weekly & monthly gross profit per project management
- Business partner the production team during the budgeting process and throughout the course of projects to ensure margins are maintained
- Assist with monthly reporting and data to be reported to the board
- Ad hoc financial analysis
- Preparation of CT41G & interest certificates
You will be:
- A brilliant communicator
- Able to explain finance matters in simple terms to the team
- Hands on ready to swap between tasks as and when required
- Super organised, able to work well in a team or alone, managing your own workload
- Calm under pressure
- Used to preparing financial information with accuracy and attention to detail
- Not afraid to ask questions & suggest improvement to processes
- Background in a similar company, dealing with creatives would be ideal!
- Qualified academically, CIMA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent

- Up to £70,000 per annum full time, or 4 days a week considered (if 4 days pro rata £56,000)
